wolfgang amadeus mozart (1756 - 1791)

The c major piano trio, K548 dates from one of mozart’s most productive periods. Between 1786 and 1791 he wrote the three operas to texts by da ponte,  le nozze di figaro, don giovanni and cosi fan tutte, a number of piano concertos, string quartets, the three string quintets, the last three symphonies and this trio. The sound world is not far removed from that of the jupiter symphony K551 not only on account of the key relationships (c allegro -- f andante -- c allegro), but also through the unity which this greatest perhaps of all composers was able to create, where lyricism, drama and argument come together to form one complete whole.
